Bradley County hit with multiple car thefts

Posted: Updated:

The Bradley County Sheriff's Office needs your help finding the suspects responsible for several car burglaries. Deputies say it keeps happening on the south end of Bradley County. Several wallets and credit cards are gone from the cars.

More and more reports of car burglaries are coming in throughout the county. The department is asking for any information leading to the arrest of the people responsible. The best way to avoid a situation like this, officials with the sheriff's department say, lock your doors.

A quiet community off of Dalton Pike is just one of the many neighborhoods in Bradley County being targeted by car thefts.

“They are sneaky, they go through a neighborhood, get in your car, if you have any valuables they will take them. People leave amazing things in their cars,” says Captain Lawson.

Captain Lawson says auto thefts are trickling into the department. He says multiple reports keep coming in this week. Wednesday their focus is one couple who he says is targeting unlocked vehicles.

“We got to get into the habit of locking our cars. It makes it tougher on them and they will generally skip you by, we got to do that.”

The suspects are taking wallets and credit cards during the overnight hours and then attempting to max them out in stores. Captain Lawson says the most frustrating thing about these auto burglaries is, “We put two in jail and three more pop up. We have to keep up with the game because they're keeping up.”

If you have any information on these crimes please contact the Criminal Investigations Division. A reward of up to $500 has been offered for the arrest of the people involved in the thefts. The sheriff's department wants you to always lock your car doors.
