Woodmore Elementary gets $10,000 literacy grant

Woodmore Elementary School got an early Christmas present, receiving a $10,000 grant from Chattanooga's Front Porch Alliance for literacy programs. 

FPA President Al Chapman presented the check to principal Cheri Guerdon, praising the school's efforts in providing libraries for each classrooms. 

A portion of the grant will go to purchase books, blazers for National Elementary Honor Society students, and Nooks for grades 3-5.

Principal Guerdon praised community partners like FPA for embracing the school.

Chapman said the school is special for many reasons, including a strong emphasis on male role models in teaching and administrative ranks.
