Governor Bill Haslam has ordered flags over the State Capitol and state office buildings to be flown at half-staff in honor and memory of Fred Thompson.

Former TN Senator and GOP candidate, Fred Thompson died Sunday in Nashville after a battle with lymphoma.

Thompson was also an actor, he appeared on the TV show, Law & Order from 2002-2007 and in the feature film, The Hunt for Red October.

Tennessee House Speaker, Beth Harwell tweeted the flags will be raised to full staff at sunset on the day Thompson is buried.
