Expect evening roadwork on U.S. 27, I-24 this week

Posted: Updated:

Evening road work along U.S. 27 South and Interstate 24 East may slow your roll a bit, but it’s all in the name of road safety and maintenance.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation crews and contractors will be performing concrete slab stabilization and concrete repair on the roadways from between 8:30pm and 5:30am, which started Sunday and runs through Thursday, November 5.

On U.S. 27, the work will be performed between mile marker 0 and mile marker 1 near the U.S. 27/I-24 split to mile marker 1 near MLK Blvd.

Once the work on U.S. 27 is completed, crews will shift their focus to I-24.

On I-24 East, repairs will be performed from mile marker 181.4 (near Westside Drive) to mile marker 183 (near the Germantown Rd. exit).

When the crews work near Germantown Road, it will require the exit to be temporarily closed until the work is done.

Variable message boards and overhead signs will be used to notify drivers of the work. THP will assist with traffic control.
