EAST RIDGE, TN (WRCB) -- The celebration parties could be heard from Tombras Avenue to Ringgold Road and beyond as the 2015 Pioneers do something Friday night at Raymond James Stadium that no other East Ridge team before them has done, win all 10 regular season games.
But Chattanooga Christian's Chargers had early hopes of short circuiting the Pioneers' perfection.
CCS's opening drive was impressive, but stuttered in the red zone.
A Wil Patton 37 yard field goal put the Chargers up early 3-0.
East Ridge gets it going on the Pioneers second possession and so does Treneil Moore, the junior running back takes it 37 yards to the house for a short lived 7-3 lead, as CCS took the ensuing kickoff back 75 yards for a 10-7 advantage.
But Moore was in beast mode from 3 yards out to put the Pioneers up 14-10 at the break.
2nd half, a CCS field goal draws them one point closer and thinking upset, but a steady diet of handoffs to Lorenzo Stewart and company wore down CCS's defense.
Stewart taking it in from 3 yards out makes it 21-13.
Chargers with one last shot, dashed by Pioneers linebacker Deondre Chambliss with a 53 yard pick six seals it, as East Ridge celebrates its first ever 10 win regular season.
28-13 Pioneers over CCS.
"Oh, it feels great to be 10 and 0," said Treneil Moore afterward. " It feels great!"
" The coaches were telling us to watch out for the screen," said a happy Deondre Chambliss as a raucous celebration unfolded behind him. " I watched the screen, I saw him throw the ball, I put my hand up and caught it and I ran back."
The Pioneers are guaranteed to host at least the first round of the playoffs which begin next week.
East Ridge's coaching staff said afterward they believe their next opponent will be Smith County.
CCS concludes their regular season at 7-3, already securing a playoff berth but the opponent as of now is uncertain.
