Loved ones say woman's slaying followed abusive, violent marriage

KNOXVILLE, TN (WRCB) -

No one was surprised when it happened.

The day after police found Kimberly Enix dead in her Fountain City apartment, family and friends recounted an abusive and often violent relationship that she endured during her marriage to Tyler Enix, who now is charged with first-degree murder in her death.

“She’d call me and she’d say, ‘I can’t take it anymore.’ And I’d say, ‘You don’t have to. You can come home,’ ” her grandmother Dorothy Graham said during a vigil at Fountain City Park on Thursday night. “But she wouldn’t leave him, and that was her problem.”

Graham said she recalled two separate times that Tyler Enix threatened her granddaughter’s life.
