Facebook vows to finally stop those annoying 'Candy Crush' invites

(NBC News) - Mark Zuckerberg has made it his mission to end Facebook's frequent and annoying invitations to play the immensely popular "Candy Crush Saga" game. At one of his now fairly regular town hall Q&A sessions, this one at the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi on Wednesday, Facebook's CEO addressed the issue in response to a questioner who was fed up with getting invites.

Mark Zuckerberg has made it his mission to end Facebook's frequent and annoying invitations to play the immensely popular "Candy Crush Saga" game. At one of his now fairly regular town hall Q&A sessions, this one at the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi on Wednesday, Facebook's CEO addressed the issue in response to a questioner who was fed up with getting invites.

"See, so this is where these town hall Q&A's are really useful," Zuckerberg responded. "I actually saw this question, it was the top-voted question on my thread. There are some tools that are kind of outdated that allow people to send invitations to people who've never used a game, who have gotten invitations in the past but don't play games on Facebook. We hadn't prioritized shutting that down, we just had other priorities. But if this is the top thing that people care about, we'll prioritize that and do it.

"So we're doing it!" he concluded, to enthusiastic applause.

It won't be an instant fix, and chances are you'll still see invites from games and apps now and then, but hopefully this will help slow down the flow.

Good Tuesday.  We will be hot and humid again today with the high reaching 93 degrees.  The heat index will top out in the upper 90s.  While we will see clouds building through the day, the chance for rain is very small, less than 20%. Wednesday marks a big change in our weather.  We will see a cold front moving through which will bring scattered showers to the area late Wednesday morning into early afternoon.
