"I am super-excited for our program and for Lucas to get a big win," stated head coach Carlos Garcia. "He played really well today and beat a good very good opponent. He started strong and finished strong. It was great to see his improvement from week to week pay off with this win."
Wingord took on Georgia Southern's Marvin Spiering in the third place match. He opened with a 6-1 win, but was shut out in the second set 6-0. He came back strong with a 6-1 win in the third to take the match.
"Nick played like a senior today," added Garcia. "Even though he lost the second set, he got the momentum back and finished well."
