Chattanooga Police is seeking applicants for their Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) System program.
The R.A.D System is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women. The R.A.D. System is a comprehensive course for women that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hand-on defense training.
The R.A.D. System is dedicated to teaching women defensive concepts and techniques against various types of assault, by utilizing easy, effective and proven self-defense tactics.
The program teaches the following:
Environmental Awareness - being aware of your surroundings.
Basic Physical Defense - learn how to defend yourself if you are ever attacked.
Simulation - Get attacked by trained "Aggressors" so you can put your training into action. This shows in real time how your training works to protect you against anyone wishing to do you harm.
R.A.D. classes will begin on Thursday, October 29th. Classes will be held every Thursday for four weeks (classes end on November 19) from 5 P.M.- 8 P.M. at the Police Service Center. Class space is limited to only 20 per class.
