Students walk for cancer research

Posted: Updated:

Hundreds of students walked two and a half miles Wednesday to raise money for cancer research.

The group of students from McCallie and Girls Preparatory School started at GPS and walked through downtown Chattanooga before coming back to the school.
Students sold the T-shirts they wore on the walk to raise money and then donated the funds to several different cancer foundations.
One student told Channel 3 why the cause is close to her heart.

Rachel Raisin, GPS student, "Most of the foundations that we donate to, they are from the GPS and McCallie communities and so we've known some of the people affected by cancer, so its really special to us."

More than 15-hundred students attended the annual walk for cancer.
