PREVIOUS STORY: The cases of stolen boats and trailers are piling up as Chattanooga Police work to determine if the crimes are connected.

There have been three stolen trailers over the past five days city-wide. The most recent case happened overnight in a hotel parking lot off Shallowford Road.

The thief got away with more than expected, swiping a trailer with guns and ammunition inside.

The heist happened sometime overnight Wednesday at the Fairfield Inn and Suites off Shallowford Road. A guest at the hotel woke up and noticed the trailer off his truck was missing.

Police are looking for a gray, 6x12 single-axle trailer with the Washington state plate 2963XL. The hotel didn't have any exterior surveillance to provide to police.

Over the past several months, the city and county have received reports of stolen trailers, boats and construction equipment. It's not clear if this recent case is connected.

The hotel manager chose not to comment, citing guest privacy concerns. If you have any information regarding the thefts, call Chattanooga Police at 698-2525.
