Bradley County deputy sent to hospital after falling down stairs
An unruly suspect that was being questioned by Bradley County Sheriff’s Office deputies Monday ended up causing one of the deputies to fall down a flight of stairs.
BCSO Deputies James Dearth and Jimmy Dale Liner were attempting to speak to Mark Nelson in an upstairs room after a called at 300 Talon Ridge Drive for a disturbance.
The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office says Nelson was aggressive, and Dep. Dearth used a stun gun on Nelson, with no effect.
Dep. Liner tried to keep himself, his partner Dearth and Nelson from tumbling down the stairs, but deputies say that Nelson pushed Dep. Dearth’s foot, causing him to lose his balance and fall down 16 stairs.
Dep. Dearth climbed the stairs and again shocked Nelson with a stun gun. Nelson was then handcuffed and has been charged with aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
Both Dep. Dearth and Nelson were transported to Tennova Hospital by Bradley County EMS.
