WALKER COUNTY, GA (WRCB) -

Huffman was a Columbus police officer and single mother of five children. Two of her children witnessed the accident, according to law enforcement.

The accident happened on the Rocktown Trail, which is a popular spot for climbing. Huffman was rappelling down one of the large rocks when she fell.

Walker County rescue crews were called to the scene, but because this happened inside a State Wildlife Management Area, the investigation is now being handled by Georgia's Department of Natural Resources.

Friends of Huffman say the single mom loved outdoor adventures. In addition to working full-time as a police officer, she was working towards a biology degree at Columbus State University.

Huffman was also a whitewater rafting guide, recently went hang gliding, and was going to learn how to fly helicopters, according to a Go Fund Me page set up for her sons.

It says Huffman recently told a friend she was getting to experience adventures she has always dreamed of doing.
