Dirty Cutting Boards and Improper Handwashing Result in Failing Score

Posted: Updated:

The scores continue to soar at the Hamilton County Health Department. Actually there are too many high scores to pass along this week at both Hamilton County restaurants and schools. The hard work is obvious these days. Congratulations.

But as usual, we always give you the low score of the week and if you like Chinese food this popular restaurant at Hamilton Place mall needs a little work behind the scenes. The score is a 68 -- remember any score lower than a 70 means failure.

Inspectors visiting China King USA found employees not properly washing or cleaning their hands. Raw chicken was being stored on top of fresh vegetables.

The cutting boards were not cleaned after raw chicken was cut on the boards. This is a huge red flag when it comes to cross contamination.

Cleaning chemicals were not properly labeled. The restaurant has 10 days to correct the violations

By the way, if you want to learn more about the restaurant inspection process in Hamilton County check out the environmental health section at health.hamiltontn.org
