Man Accused of Groping Women in Campus Elevator

Posted: Updated:

Chattanooga State police arrested a man on sexual battery charges after they say he forced himself on two women in an elevator.

Officers arrested Frederick Douglas, 18, Thursday and charged him with two counts of sexual battery with contact.

According to court documents, campus police were called around 1pm Thursday. One victim told officers she was in an elevator with Douglas on Tuesday when he grabbed her breast. She reportedly told him to stop but he grabbed her again. A second victim reported a similar incident happening on Thursday. She told officers Douglas forced himself on her in the elevator, kissing and groping her. The victim said Douglas would not stop, despite her telling him to, until the doors of the elevator opened.

When police located Douglas on campus he admitted to the accusations against him, but said both incidents were consensual.

Douglas was arrested and booked at the Hamilton County Jail. He is being held on a $10,000.
