“I love this little girl you know. I can't believe this happened,” said Ena Agurela, Angel’s friend.
Police have not said how the pair knew one another or what led to Evans’ death. Nelson is being questioned by police, but has not yet been formally charged. Neighbors say this case and other acts of violence are taking a toll on their community.
“It’s just so sad and depressing. It’s so depressing it takes me to the hospital sometimes,” said Ellene Collier.
Neighbors say they are trying to make sense of it all and have faith justice will be served.
"God is going to handle this, and that's pretty much all I can say,” said Collier.
UPDATE: Police are interviewing a suspect involved in the fatal stabbing of 33-year-old Angel Evans.
