Marine trades combat for cuddles
(WBAL) A Maryland couple is getting ready to open up a new business that is believed to be the first in the state: a cuddle shop.
Tiffany and Rob Andrews are working toward opening Tender Embrace in Linthicum. Those seeking the opportunity to cuddle could pay anywhere from $40 to $500 for a therapeutic session.
The Andrews understand there are skeptics about their business, but have stressed there is nothing for anyone in the community to fear.
"We get a lot of 'It's creepy,'" Tiffany Andrews said. "Who is going to let their spouse cuddle with a stranger?"
The Andrews said they can relate to the loneliness. Both grew up in military families and moved around a lot as children. Rob Andrews followed in his father's footsteps and spent nine years in the Marines.
"We've done three deployments together," Tiffany Andrews said. "One eight months, two four months back-to-back. They were lonely."
