CHATTANOOGA, TN  ( -- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football team earned its highest FCS ranking in school history in both polls officially recognized by the NCAA today.  The Mocs are No. 6 in both the Top 25 and the FCS Coaches Poll

UTC is off to a 3-1 start and is 1-0 in Southern Conference action.  UTC's only loss was a 26-23 setback to current No. 1 Jacksonville State in the season opener on Sept. 5.  The Mocs have been ranked in the top 25 for 21 consecutive weeks, dating back to Nov. 9, 2013.

UTC has been ranked for 30 weeks in the Russ Huesman era (since 2009).  The Mocs are 17-12 when among the Top 25 in the country under Huesman.    

Chattanooga was ranked in the top-10 in the national small college rankings in the 1960s, reaching as high as No. 3 on Nov. 1, 1968.  This was before making the move to NCAA Division I in 1978 and prior to the FCS rankings that began in 1982. 

Up next for Chattanooga is SoCon-foe Furman.  The Paladins are 3-2 overall, including a 16-15 win at FBS Central Florida in Week 3.  Furman is receiving votes in both polls and is also 1-0 in league play.
