(WBIR-BRISTOL) The Battle at Bristol is less than a year away, and fans can start buying tickets Friday morning.
On Sept. 10, 2016, Tennessee will take on Virginia Tech at Bristol Motor Speedway, home of NASCAR's fastest half mile. BMS has a seating capacity of about 160,000 for races, and they're expecting 150,000 fans for the football game. It will be the largest college football game ever.
“I still joke it’s the longest planned event to never take place,” Bristol Motor Speedway general manager Jerry Caldwell said.
Season ticket holders got the first choice to purchase tickets.
Now, we know when everyone else will get the opportunity to be part of history.
On Oct. 2, which BMS has dubbed "Battle Friday" tickets will go on sale at Bristol Motor Speedway. Several thousand tickets will be available for purchase at the speedway that day.
Ticket buyers coming to Bristol Motor Speedway on Oct. 2 will enter through the South Entrance to the property located off of Hwy. 11E / Volunteer Pkwy. The BMS ticket offices open at 9 a.m.
The one day walk-up sale will take place at the Bristol Motor Speedway ticket offices, located in the Bruton Smith Office Building, from 9 a.m.- 8 p.m. Available tickets are priced at $40, $50 and $80, plus tax. A limited amount of tickets are available on a first come, first serve basis.
