Village Volkswagen dealership responds to recent VW issue

Posted: Updated:

Volkswagen and affiliated employees are waiting to see the long-term impact of the manufacturer's cheating scandal on emissions.

Village Volkswagen of Chattanooga posted a letter on its Facebook page Thursday and sent the same letter to VW owners in the Tennessee Vallley:

To our valued customers,

On September 18th, the EPA announced that Volkswagen had cheated on the emissions control systems on 480,000 2.0 TDI vehicles sold in the US since 2009.

The Village Volkswagen family was and is shocked by the news. We have been recommending diesel VW's to friends and families and are embarrassed to learn of Volkswagen's actions.

As part of the locally-owned Bowers Automotive Group, Village Volkswagen employs many people whose livelihoods and families depend on the success of Volkswagen as a company. Plus, there are thousands of friends and neighbors who not only rely on good jobs at Chattanooga’s Volkswagen plant, but many of the ancillary businesses, too.

While we are hurt by these events, we continue to believe in the VW brand and believe they will do the right thing to correct this problem quickly.

For the latest news regarding recalls and updates on the actions taken by VW please see

Your cars are SAFE TO DRIVE and no immediate action needs to be taken by owners. When a recall is announced by Volkswagen, owners will be notified and we will gladly perform the service on the cars.

We value and love our customers and will do everything we can to support them. We understand it can be difficult to have patience during this time, but that is what we humbly ask of our customers. We will do our best as your dealer to keep you posted.

As always, our entire team at Village Volkswagen thanks you for your business and patronage of our dealership.  As a sign of our desire to be there for you, we have listed our personal cell phone numbers below if any of you want to ask us any questions or talk about the emissions issues.  We might not be able to give you an exact answer, but we do promise to tell you both how much we appreciate you and how we’ll do anything we can to make this as seamless as possible
