Etowah man charged with attempted murder

A man faces attempted murder charges after police say he held his wife against her will and then tried to kill her. 
Etowah Police say it happened 6:00 Sunday morning at the Red Roof Inn. Officers responded to a call about a fight in one of the rooms.
Detective Shaw said they arrived just in time to stop 32-year-old Harold Horvitz from strangling his wife.    
But shaw said police almost couldn't get in the hotel room.

Detective Jim Shaw, Etowah Police Department,  "It was finally opened by a manager of the hotel and there was a male subject on top of a female and they had to stun him to get him off of her."

Horvitz was booked into the Justice Center on several charges including attempted first degree murder and aggravated domestic assault. 
He is being held without bond.
