The officer was injured during a motor vehicle accident in route to the bank robbery.

CPD says the officer was traveling east on E Brainerd Road approaching the Gunbarrel intersection. The officer noticed a truck stopped at the green light and yielding to emergency traffic.

The witness in the truck said he had the green light, but noticed the officer approaching and decided to yield to the emergency vehicle. The officer began to enter the intersection.

A driver in a Range Rover stated she saw the truck in front of her stop and thought the truck was trying to get into another lane.

The driver in the Range Rover went around the truck and entered the intersection. The driver said she did not see the Patrol vehicle approaching in the intersection.

The Range Rover and the Patrol vehicle hit in the westbound traffic lane on E Brainerd Road.

CPD says the officer lost consciousness briefly following the wreck. The officer was using his lights and siren responding to the emergency call.

The driver in the Range Rover was not injured.

No citations were issued, according to CPD.

The investigation into the bank robbery is being led by the FBI.
