Georgia players, coaches offer prayers for Southern's Gales
ATLANTA (AP) - Georgia players are using social media to offer prayers for injured Southern wide receiver Devon Gales.
Southern announced after Saturday's 48-6 loss to No. 8 Georgia that Gales suffered a spinal injury in the game and was admitted to Athens Regional hospital.
The hospital did not disclose information on Gales to The Associated Press on Sunday.
Georgia quarterback Greyson Lambert said on his Twitter and Instagram accounts "Our hearts and prayers go out to Devon Gales, his family, and the entire Southern football team."
Several other players and assistant coaches Brian Schottenheimer and Kevin Sherrer were among others who also offered prayers and best wishes. Gales was hurt while blocking on a kickoff return late in the third quarter.
Southern players kneeled and appeared to pray as Gales received attention on the field.
