CLEVELAND, TN (WRCB) -

Blythe-Bower Elementary School in Cleveland was awarded a $75,000 grant from The Leonore Annenberg School Fund for Children to create a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) Lab. Students are encouraged to explore these disciplines in a flexible, creative space stocked with the latest equipment.

Principal Joel Barnes praised the Bradley/Cleveland Public Education Foundation, and the Public Education Foundation of Chattanooga for assisting with the grant request.  School leaders put together the proposal over a three-month period last fall, and were thrilled to hear their request had been granted.

Cleveland City Director of Schools Dr. Martin Ringstaff, a former biology teacher, said the new lab contains technology he would have loved to have in his classroom.  Former Blythe-Bower principal Dr. Ron Hill paid tribute to former and current school staffers for moving the school forward.
