Four wounded in separate Saturday night shootings

Posted: Updated:

It’s been a violent weekend in Chattanooga. Police responded to three shootings overnight that left four people wounded.

Just before 11:00 pm Saturday, shots rang out on Jasmine Street. Eyewitnesses tell Channel 3 a party inside a house turned violent.
Police say a 23-year-old man and 21-year- old woman were injured in the shooting.

A stray bullet hit the home across the street. Neighbors tell Channel 3 a child was inside at the time.

A neighbor who didn't want to show her face on camera out of fear for her life tells us that after the shootout happened at the home behind me she says the folks inside went back to partying.

About two hours later a second shots fired call, this time on North Willow Street, the same street where 20 year old Jordan Clark was shot and killed on August 25th.

“But I saw the fire come out the gun. A little old skinny thing got out there and bam! bam! bam! bam!” said Betty Ray, Eyewitness.

85 –year-old Betty Ray says she watched the shootout occur on her street shortly after midnight Sunday.

“I was that close and I saw the fire coming out the gun. It scared me, yeah, it scared me,” said Ray.

Ray says an argument between five people lead to the shooting.

“He says to the girl: “You didn't see me pull no gun, you didn't see me fire no gun,” said Ray.

Police say an eighteen-year-old man was shot in his right shoulder blade.

Two hours later another victim showed up to a local hospital. The 25 year-old victim told police he was standing in the parking lot of Bootsie's nightclub off East 37th when he was struck by a bullet in the neck.

Betty Ray says she wants the violence to stop so every community feels safe.

“I do not want our country to be divided,” said Ray.

All four victims were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Chattanooga Police is looking for the suspects in all three incidents. If you have any information that can help police call 423-698-2525
