UPDATE: Suspect and victim ID'ed in morning shooting

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -

UPDATE: Chattanooga police say have identified both the victim and suspect in an early morning shooting on Willow Street.

Michael Shaw, 36 was struck by a shot that went through his arm and hip after Clifford "Willie" Eugene Woodruff, 51, tried to grab a pistol from Shaw after he was given a ride to a nearby store.

Arrest warrants were filed against Woodruff for the following charges:  

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Felony Possession of a Firearm
  • Felony Reckless Endangerment
  • Theft Over $500

Woodruff is in custody at the Hamilton County Jail. His bond has not yet been set. 


PREVIOUS STORY: One person is in custody after an early morning shooting in Chattanooga.

Police found a victim with one non-life-threatening gunshot wound around 2:30 Thursday morning at 1800 S. Willow St.

The victim is being treated at the hospital.

The exact location of the shooting is undetermined but police confirm the victim was found in the 1800 block.
