Woman charged with aggravated assault on police

According to Chattanooga Police a woman is charged with aggravated assault on police and evading police. 

Police said an officer was directing traffic to disperse a large crowd that was refusing to leave the Mapco on E 3rd Street.

A short time later an assisting officer witnessed Jasmine Ganh, 22, driving away at a high rate of speed through the Mapco parking lot that was filled with pedestrians and a officer that was on foot tried to stop her.

Officers said Ganh almost hit three vehicles on E 3rd. Street in her attempt to evade police. 

The assisting officer said Ganh failed to maintain her lane while driving away and running a red light. 

Ganh continued to flee police as she was entering the Norfolk Southern Railroad Station her car became immobile when she drove through gravel and onto railroad tracks authorities said. 

Officers said Ganh fled on foot and was apprehended and had a strong odor of alcohol. Officers found an almost empty bottle of alcohol in her car after the arrest was made. 

Jasmine Ganh was charged with aggravated assault on police, DUI, reckless endangerment, and other charges. 

Bond was not set for Ganh due to previous offenses and will be in court on Tuesday morning.
