SNELLVILLE, Ga. (AP) - Police say two brothers have been charged after being accused of trying to kill their parents, beating them both in a suburban Atlanta home.
Local media outlets reported Sunday that 22-year-old Cameron and 17-year-old Christopher Ervin were charged with aggravated assault and arson. The incident occurred Saturday morning in a Snellville home where both lived.
Gwinnett County police spokesman Sgt. Rich Long says the father was stabbed several times and the mother was allegedly assaulted by their sons. The mother told police that her husband distracted their sons while she called 911 for help.
Officers detected a strong odor of natural gas inside the home when they arrived. Long says there was evidence the brothers tried to start a fire.
Long says a motive behind the incident is still unclear.
