Federal regulators say a massive air bag recall isn't as extensive as first thought.
Officials initially said 34 million Takata inflators needed to be replaced.
But they now think that number is closer to 23 million.
Transportation officials say some airbags were mistakenly counted twice and Takata included some air bags sold overseas in the numbers it gave federal regulators.
