Grandson of TN state representative killed in weekend crash

Posted: Updated:

The grandson of a Tennessee State Representative was killed in a weekend crash in North Georgia.

The Georgia State Patrol responded to reports of a crash on Alabama Highway in Catoosa County around 6:45 a.m. Sunday morning. Troopers say Jimmy Hood, 33, died as a result of the one-vehicle crash. Eyewitnesses told authorities it appeared the Ford Explorer Hood was driving hydroplaned, causing him to lose control.

First responders transported Hood to Erlanger Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Representative JoAnne Favors posted on Facebook about Hood’s death and asking for prayers for her family during this difficult time.

“Please pray for comfort for my family. My grandson, Jimmy Hood was fatally injured in an automobile accident this morning. My daughter Rev. Dr. Marva Lee is his mother and his wife is Tabitha,” wrote Favors.

“The grief that our family is experiencing is profound but we are trusting God to bring us through this devastating ordeal. Much thanks to all for the visits and calls today. We know that Jesus loves us.”
