WHITFIELD COUNTY, GA (WRCB) -

A former Coahulla Creek High School teacher plead guilty Friday morning to sexual assault by persons with supervisory or disciplinary authority.

Elizabeth Scroggs plead guilty under the Georgia First Offender Act and was sentenced to 10-years probation. She will not serve jail time nor have to register as a sex offender.  She will not be allowed to work or volunteer in a supervisory role with anyone under the age of 16.

Scroggs was indicted in March 2015 for allegedly having sex with an 18-year old student. Scoggs attorney says the ongoing relationship was consensual and that she should not be labeled as a sexual predator.

Jury selection was set to begin Monday, August 31, 2015.

If she successfully completes her probation she will not be convicted,
