Dade County Sheriff's Deputy Mark Garner has died at the age of 53. Here is a statement from Dade County Sheriff Ray Cross: The Dade County Sheriff’s Office regrets to inform the community of the passing of a caring and devoted Deputy, Mark Garner. Deputy Garner worked as the CHAMPS Officer at Dade and Davis Elementary schools. Our sincerest prayers are with his wife, daughters and family at this time. Rest in peace dear friend! We will always remember you as Tennessee’s biggest fan!”
According to friends, Garner died at home this morning of a heart attack, as he was preparing to go to work. During his law enforcement career, he worked for the South Pittsburg Police, Hamilton, Walker, Marion and Dade County Sheriff's Departments. He was a longtime school board member for the Richard Hardy Memorial School. Visitation will be at Ryan Funeral Home in Trenton on Sunday from 1-8 p.m., and Monday from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m at Trenton Ministry Center, where funeral services will follow at 1:00. All times Eastern) Burial will be at Hooker Cemetery.
