New Treatment for double chin

Posted: Updated:

Michelle Teslar says she had noticed some fullness in her chin, so she decided to try Kybella.   She turned to Dr.  Chris Chase at Associates in Plastic Surgery, the first in our area to offer Kybella, a non surgical injection to zap away what's often called the double chin.

Dr. Chris Chase says "Kybella is a big deal because it's a breakthrough product which is non surgical in the treatment of the double chin, which is excess fat under the chin area."

Dr. Chase says this non surgical treatment permanently melts the fat away in just a matter of minutes.

Dr. Chris Chase explained how it works. "We map out the area of injections and then we numb the area and then we inject the product into the fatty tissue and it melts the fat away."

Michelle Teslar says "It didn't take but about 30 minutes, I didn't know what to expect, but didn't have any pain with it after the procedure was done, I was able to do my normal daily activity."

Doctors say there is basically no down time for most patients.

Dr. Chase says this procedure can take up to five treatments to get the desired results, but for the majority of patients it takes 2-4 treatments.

Michelle just recently had her first treatment, but so far she is pleased.

Michelle Teslar says "It's amazing how it doesn't have any pain and you just go back to a normal life and no one will even know you had it done."

Like any medical procedure, there are some risks involved.

Some of the most common side effects include swelling, bruising, and numbness.

Michelle Teslar says  "I did have a little bit of soreness and tenderness in the area of the injections."

The double chin can be hereditary or the result of a weight issue, and this provides an alternative for those who can't get rid of it through diet and exercise.

For Michelle, she says this procedure has not only given her a physical, but an emotional lift as well.
