CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) -- Week two of Tennessee's prep football poll has a definite Tennessee Valley flavor, even for teams which are now ranked but who lost their season openers.
For instance, take Mark Pemberton's Rhea County Golden Eagles.
The Evensville crew, despite losing to Baylor Thursday night, catapulted themselves in Class 5A's rating,the Eagles are now ranking at number six.
Even Mac Bryan's Ooltewah Owls jumped with a loss.Ooltewah is now slotted eighth, after their 9 to 5 loss to Class 6 A power Riverdale.
In Division II, Baylor's Red Raiders jump to the fourth slot as McCallie comes in ranked sixth.
In Class 4-A, East Hamilton's Hurricanes are now tenth after their 34-18 win Friday night at Signal Mountain.
In Class 3-A, Charles Fant's Notre Dame Fightin' Irish are ranked fourth.
In Class 2-A, there's lots of locals in a logjam with Ricky Ross and his Marion County Warriors, who are now ranked third after destroying Hixson Saturday afternoon in Jasper.
Marion County is followed by the Boyd-Buchanan Bucs at fourth in 2-A.
Tyner Academy is ranked fifth.
Meigs County is now sixth and Grace Christian, right behind the Tigers, are now ranked 7th
In Class 1-A, R.C. Helton's Whitwell Tigers are now ranked sixth after their convincing win over Grundy County Friday night.
