CLEVELAND, TN (WRCB) -

UPDATE:  Charges have been dismissed against a Cleveland Middle School teacher charged with domestic assault.

Jeffrey Robinson was reinstated as a teacher in the Cleveland City Schools system after the Bradley County General Sessions Court dismissed the charges.

Dr. Ringstaff, Director of Cleveland City Schools stated, “We are pleased that the charges against Mr. Robinson were dismissed and that he will be back in the classroom. We are glad the issue has been resolved.

A Cleveland Middle School teacher has been arrested and charged with domestic assault. He's been placed on leave without pay pending the outcome of the investigation.

Police say that Jeffery Robinson stole his girlfriend’s vehicle Sunday morning.

The arrest affidavit obtained by Channel 3 says the vehicle was registered to Robinson.

Robinson is said to have returned to the home on Eureka Drive, in a different vehicle, where he allegedly assaulted the woman, leaving her with a laceration and a “quarter-sized” lump on her forehead.

Robinson then fled on foot, but was later found by police and a warrant for his arrest was issued.

Dr. Martin Ringstaff, Director of Cleveland City Schools placed Robinson on leave. Ringstaff said, “This is a legal investigation, and we will wait to hear from the courts before taking any permanent action. The safety and well-being of our students is our number one concern.”
