JASPER, TN  (WRCB) ---  The Marion County Warriors raced out to a 38-0 lead at halftime over the Hixson Wildcats Saturday, and let the reserves get some quality playing time as the team cruised to a season opening victory by a 38-12 margin.

" I feel like we ran to the ball but I want to look at it," said Ross, now in his second year at the helm in Marion. " You know its never as good as you think and its never as bad as you think, so I'm sure there's something there. We may not have had some leverages we want or maybe we didn't run to the ball a time, but I do feel like our effort overall was really good."

"Yeah, they came out better in the second half, we got a lot of young players and just a lot of inexperience," said Hixson Head Coach Dan Duff afterward. "But we got a lot too, we just got to gut check ourselves and get better than that and it's just little things that's holding us back right now, but we're gonna keep fighting at it," promised Duff.

Hixson heads to Walker Valley next week as Marion County heads up Monteagle Mountain for Grundy County's Yellow Jackets.
