RINGGOLD, GA (WRCB) -

While we're all gearing up for Fourth of July celebrations, one local couple is celebrating something else special: a 75th wedding anniversary.

John and Edith Land of Ringgold are celebrating their 75th anniversary July 3. They got married in Rossville in 1940 by a Justice of the Peace for just $2.

"The first time I saw him, he was sitting down and he had the most beautiful blue eyes I had ever seen," Edith Land said. "And he did! He was so good looking."

"I thought she was pretty, the prettiest legs I've ever seen. She has still got them!" John Land said.

John was just 19 when he married his life-long sweetheart 17-year-old Edith. Now, 75 years later, 94-year-old John and 92-year-old Edith still invest in each others company.

"We've been angry with each other along the way, we've had our little ups and downs but we've loved each other all the way," Edith said.

The couple has good neighbors who help them out, but they cherish their family above all: one daughter, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In fact, the couple is spending their anniversary weekend with their grand kids.
