A Farragut couple and their daughter, a 2015 Farragut High School graduate, were killed Sunday when their plane crashed into a house in Massachusetts, according to the Farragut principal.

Nicole Kalister had planned a college orientation visit to Northeastern University in Boston with her parents, Dr. Joseph R. “Rick” Kalister, the emergency room director at Starr Regional Medical Center's Athens campus, and her mother, Betty, when the plane crashed in Plainville, MA, about 5:45 p.m. Sunday.

Farragut will open the school from 6-8 p.m. Monday to offer grief counseling to students and parents, principal Stephanie Thompson said in an email Monday.

Kalister lived in Farragut but had served as ER director for Starr Regional since 2001, the hospital confirmed on Monday. His wife, Betty, taught yoga for the Town of Farragut and for other local studios, and worked as a surgery scheduler for University Orthopaedic Surgeons.
