Tennessee state trooper placed on leave after drug arrest
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A Tennessee state trooper has been placed on discretionary leave with pay after being arrested on drug charges.
The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security says Trooper Mark D. Williams was arrested by Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agents on Friday in Lauderdale County. State officials say all departmental equipment including weapons and badges were secured following the arrest.
The 47-year-old Williams was assigned to Lauderdale County and began his career with the Highway Patrol in January 2004.
