An East Ridge mother is facing neglect charges after police say they found her children living in filthy conditions.
Kimberly McClendon, 26, is charged with four counts of child neglect.
According to a police report, officers responded to McClendon's home on Bennett Road at the request of Child Protective Services. Officers say the home was infested with bugs and had very little ventilation or air conditioning. Police also noted loose wiring, exposed electrical outlets and an abundance of trash and sharp objects in the yard where the children were playing without shoes.
Four children were removed from the home and code enforcement was called to begin the process of condemning it based on its condition.
McClendon was booked at the Hamilton County Jail after consenting to a drug test. She tested positive for methamphetamine, methadone, amphetamine and benzodiazepines. She told an officer she made daily trips to a methadone clinic.
