ATLANTA (AP) - First baseman Freddie Freeman has a sprained right hand and will miss the Atlanta Braves' game Thursday against Boston.
Freeman went 0 for 3 in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Red Sox, but left after the sixth inning.
After getting examined by a hand specialist in the clubhouse, Freeman said he took a cortisone shot that he hopes will let him return Friday when Atlanta begins a three-game series against the New York Mets.
Freeman was initially hurt while taking an awkward swing last Saturday at New York.
Over the last four years, Freeman is hitting .325 with runners in scoring position, the NL's sixth-best average over that span.
