NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Google has started to install its high-speed fiber network in Nashville.

Multiple news outlets report the company announced Tuesday it has started laying the fiber lines for its new ultra-fast, gigabit-speed Internet service. The network will include 3,200 miles of fiber in Davidson County.

Officials say construction will include building 18 fiber huts on properties throughout the city and attaching fiber to more than 100,000 utility poles.

Google will distribute doorhangers in areas where it will be building to let residents know of pending construction. The company warns of disruptions but plans to return streets and landscapes to their present conditions.

AT&T already has a similar service in the city and Comcast also plans to offers its own.

Google has not released details on when the service will be available.
