For the first time in recent memory a downpour of rain forced the Bessie Smith Strut inside.
But that didn't stop the music at this time honored tradition. The party moved inside the Cultural Center, folks danced, ate, and laughed.
Dionne Jennings, Executive Director, "We're still partying, our performance hall is packed, people are enjoying themselves, they are buying things from the vendor, they are still buying drinks."
The weather knocked down vendors tents forcing some to have to shut down early. The next big event the center is putting on is Nightfall. That's on July 3rd. They are hoping the weather will be much better then.
