Woman in critical condition after after being assaulted

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) - A Chattanooga woman remains in critical condition after being assaulted at a home on Trailwood Drive in Chattanooga.  


It happened June 6 around 10:00 p.m.  Chattanooga Police answered an aggravated domestic assault call.  When officers arrived, they met Christopher Merriman, 50, who directed them to his sister, Elizabeth Merriman, 54, who was in the hallway. Ms. Merriman was suffering from what appeared to be severe injuries to the head.  Mr. Merriman was identified as the suspect, but it is still unknown what lead to his actions.


Ms. Merriman was taken to the hospital and is listed in critical condition with life-threatening head trauma. 
Christopher Merriman is charged with attempted first degree murder and aggravated assault.
