Driver finds toddler in busy road

Posted: Updated:

A Catoosa County toddler has been reunited with her mother after wandering off into a busy road.

Sheriff Gary Sisk tells Channel 3 the girl, who looked to be three or four years old, was found on Three Notch Road shortly before 10am.

A driver saw the girl in the road and stopped to move her to a safe place. He called 911 and deputies were dispatched.

Deputies went door to door in an attempt to find the child's parent or guardian. They located the child's mother, who was unaware the child had left the home.

The child, who was not injured, was returned to her mother.

Sheriff Sisk says the mother is not being criminally charged, but the Division of Family and Children Services has been notified and will investigate.
