CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (lookouts.com) – The Southern League has announced that Chattanooga Lookouts' outfielder and first baseman Max Kepler has been named its Player of the Week for May 18 – May 24.
Over seven games played, Kepler produced a remarkable week with top-five numbers in most major offensive categories. The Berlin, Germany native hit .407 with seven runs, 11 hits, seven extra base hits, five doubles, two homeruns, and nine RBI with an .815 slugging percentage and OPS of 1.263. Playing primarily at first base, Kepler had three games with more than one hit and three games with more than one RBI.
His biggest performance came in the Lookouts 13-2 win at Mobile on May 21, where the left-hander went 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles and three RBI. This is the first weekly award for the 2012 Topps Appalachian League Player of the Year.
