UPDATE: Judge postpones decision on new trial for Tony Bigoms

Posted: Updated:
UPDATE: Judge Barry Steelman has postponed his decision on granting a new trial to Tony Bigoms, convicted in the brutal 2012 murder of Dana Wilkes.

PREVIOUS STORY: The man found guilty of killing and dismembering a Chattanooga dialysis worker will ask for a new trial.

Tony Bigoms, 55, is serving a life sentence for the 2012 murder of Dana Wilkes.

Bigoms' attorney has submitted a motion for a new trial, arguing insufficient evidence, a warrantless cell phone search, and the prosecution's inability to nail down an exact crime scene.

His attorney also said his client should get a new trial because the Court allowed testimony from Bigoms' prior murder acquittal and allowed the sequestered jury to separate.

Bigoms, who was convicted in April 2014, showed no remorse during his September sentencing hearing as the judge added four additional years to his life sentence for abuse of a corpse.

Channel 3 will have a crew in court as Bigoms is scheduled for Judge Barry Steelman's docket Tuesday morning.
