HAMILTON COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -

UPDATE: Without a fire hydrant nearby, fire crews had to truck in water to battle the blaze on Hillcrest Drive. By then, Michael Martin had already grabbed a water hose, hoping to help.

β€œI walked outside real quick and I noticed there was smoke coming from my neighbor's house,” said Michael Martin.

Photos show smoke coming from the back of the home belonging to Martin's neighbor. The fire started in an addition, used as a workshop, and spread to the home. Heavy wind made the fire fight a tough one. Mutual aid was called in. A total of 8 tanker trucks hauled water to the scene.

Fire officials say an electrical problem started the fire that has been ruled accidental and caused significant damage.

Michael Martin, who helped how he could, is just glad his neighbor wasn't at home.

β€œHe's my friend, he's my neighbor and I'm sure if he was able to, he would do the same for me,” said Martin.

One firefighter sustained a minor injury; damages are estimated at about $50,000. The homeowners will be staying with family tonight.

UPDATE:
The Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department responded and arrived at a house fire on an addition to a home on Hilcrest Drive Monday afternoon.

Firefighters entered the addition to extinguish the fire and prevent its spreading to the main level of the house.

Heavy winds prompted the request for mutual aid and the Tri-Community VFD responded, assisting the efforts.

Fire officials report the cause of the fire was accidental.

One minor injury was reported by a firefighter who sustained a minor knee injury.

Damages are estimated at $50,000 and the homeowners will be staying with family, according to a news release.
