(WRCB) - Good Monday. The general rule for this Memorial Day will be the earlier you can get the grilling done the better. Thunderstorms are likely late this afternoon through this evening. It looks as though we will have storms moving over the Cumberland Plateau between 3pm and 5pm, through the Tennessee Valley between 4pm and 6pm, and into the Blue Ridge Mtns between 5pm and 7pm. Highs today will stay around 80 degrees, and it will be a little breezy with SE winds at 10-15 mph.
A few of the storms will linger through the overnight, and we may even be dealing with spotty showers and storms Tuesday morning. During the afternoon, a cold front will move through that will bring the potential for some severe storms producing small hail and damaging winds. We will get to the low 80s Tuesday.
The chance for showers and storms will diminish a little Wednesday through the rest of the week, but each day there will be at least a chance. Highs will drift back into the mid 80s for the second half of the week. Humidity will be returning as well.
Track the storms with your smart phone with the WRCB weather app. David Karnes.
