Tennessee student-athletes post 3.04 GPA in spring semester

Posted: Updated:

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee student-athletes have posted a 3.04 overall grade point average for the spring semester, their second-highest GPA since the school started recording sport-by-sport data on the subject in 2003.

This marks the fifth straight semester Tennessee student-athletes posted an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher. Sixty percent of the student-athletes finished with a 3.0 or better.

The team-by-team GPAs included a 2.85 for football, 2.75 for men's basketball and 3.12 for women's basketball.

The women's golf team posted a 3.66, the highest GPA for any Tennessee squad since at least 2003, when the school started keeping track of that data. The men's basketball team and football team had their best GPAs since that point as well.

Tennessee's best overall GPA since 2003 was a 3.05 in the 2013 spring semester.
